Liposuction Surgeon – Dr. Humberto Palladino
We tend to be our own worst critics, and are quick to notice areas of our bodies that could benefit from some tightening or toning (e.g., the stomach, thighs, hips and arms, which can gain weight with pregnancy, aging or simply because of genetics). This type of self-critique may provide motivation for daily workouts or following a restrictive diet, but in some cases, diet and exercise fail to produce the changes in our physiques that we so badly want to see. Fortunately, surgical intervention can compensate where diet and exercise fall short.
Liposuction is a commonly performed plastic surgery procedure in which excess fat deposits are removed from the body. If you’re interested in liposuction in El Paso, Dr. Humberto Palladino of Southwest Plastic Surgery can help you. Dr. Palladino has many years of experience sculpting his patients’ bodies and creating beautiful and natural-looking curves.
Liposuction could be combined with refined techniques for liposculpture, including advanced liposuction and fat grafting. This three-dimensional approach allows Dr. Palladino to reshape and refine the volume distribution in the body, adding where it is needed and removing where it is not. These techniques are suitable for women and men.
Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
Most people are suitable candidates for liposuction. If you are in good health and relatively close to your ideal weight, liposuction can help to take off those last few pounds. The surgery can help to sculpt the following areas of your body:
- Flanks (love handles)
- Male breast area
The first step of the liposuction process is to meet with Dr. Palladino to discuss your case. It’s helpful if you can clearly identify which areas of your body you would like to treat. For example, perhaps you feel self-conscious about your upper arms, or your hips or thighs. Dr. Palladino will examine you and discuss liposuction in more detail. He will explain how you can prepare for the surgery, what to expect on the day of your surgery and what recovery will be like.
Please note that liposuction will not correct large amounts of excess skin. If you have large amounts of excess skin along with areas of excess fat, Dr. Palladino will talk about other plastic surgery alternatives, including body lift procedures, which may be more appropriate.
Your Experience: What to Expect
Liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis at a surgery center. To prepare for surgery, you should avoid eating or drinking anything for approximately eight hours prior to your procedure. You should make arrangements to have a family member or friend drive you to the surgery center and remain available during your surgery to wait for updates. After you arrive at the facility, you will be escorted to the pre-operative suite. Dr. Palladino will mark up the area(s) of your body to be liposuctioned. An anesthesiologist will administer general anesthesia or intravenous sedation to help you remain comfortable throughout the entire surgery. After surgery is over and you have rested for a short period of time in the recovery suite, your companion should drive you home and help you into a comfortable position.
Recovering from Liposuction
You will likely be pleased with how quickly you recover from liposuction. As long as you take it easy for the first few days after your procedure, your body will quickly adjust to its new contours, and you will be back to work and your normal routine in no time. You will be required to wear a garment for two to four weeks after the procedure. Dr. Palladino and the rest of the Southwest Plastic Surgery team will provide a list of instructions for you to follow during your recovery. And of course, if you have any questions, help is only a phone call away.
